I wanted this to be a “problematic policies” piece but it is far too broad to just be confined to a few policy breakdowns. I probably will only touch on policy a few times as it is extremely problematic how the ideology is infiltrating our schools. Transgenderism is looking to be an issue that’s on the rise. Before we really go into that downward spiral, let’s break down some societal issues first.
We are now at a time where there are kids who have grown almost exclusively in social media. They are tuned in to their social circles, media, politics, and bullying 24/7 with very little emotional or mental reprieve. Now add to that the social cultures of today that focus on concepts of “equity” and raising the “historically marginalized” voices. We have actions by people who are supposed to be leaders in a society that values equality for all people. Further, we have encouraged checking boxes as a means to assess social hierarchy instead of personality, character, or merit. Most of these are means of acceptance are immutable except for ally-ism and orientation. (Yes, humans, especially teenagers, adapt to be accepted by society.)
In recent years there has been an uptick in Gender Dysphoria and there has been more than just speculation of it being related to social media and it comes on rapidly. Between all of that, teachers subverting parents, the policies that allow these things to go on under our noses make this even more problematic. These policies typically include non-disclosure agreements like this:
”Confidential Health or Educational Information
Information about a student's gender identity, legal name, or assigned sex at birth may constitute confidential medical or educational information. Disclosing this information to other students, their parents/guardians, or other third parties may violate privacy laws, such as the federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. §1232; 34 C.F.R. Part 99). Therefore, to ensure the safety and well-being of the student, school employees should not disclose a student's transgender or gender-expansive status to others, including the student's parents/guardians and/or other school personnel, unless the school is (1) legally required to do so or (2) the student has authorized such disclosure.”
Coupled with these procedures:
Mixed with vague Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Sexual Education standards being taught by people who are heavily into their woke ideologies, this is concerning. This is leading to the maiming of children who would otherwise grow out of the awkwardness that made them impressionable. Often these kids grow up to desist.
Now, it’s a battle for our kids. Not just their minds, but their bodies, their approval, and their future. Remember, we are the primary stakeholders in our kids educations.
