Man, (woman, they/them?) it’s been one. In April we’ve added 6 members to the family.
We waited for 21 days for these little chickens to hatch. It was fun to watch and we are waiting to do it again.
This is Pepper, ain’t she cute? I think so.
I’ve decided that, in homeschooling, it is vital for me to get back to the roots of what makes the everyday conveniences, convenient. This was decided when we began homeschooling, but now we have a bit of land to fulfill it more than our old space. Eventually, I plan on getting more animals that will feed us in one way or the other. We have a small garden. I want to get back to the primal things that I grew up pretty detached from. I want the same for my kids. I want them to know real food and where it comes from. I want them to know how to survive with their own resources and experiences. We have it so easy to be able to go to the store and pick up a bag of chicken nuggets and some eggs that we take for granted the privilege that we have as a Western society.
Unfortunately, where there is privilege there are new problems and fears that I have for my kids that I don’t think are new, but definitely are not the same.
